Yacine Ndiaye: Giving Back, Rising Up, and Earning Her Shot at Rutgers University

Yacine joined the BYF family during her junior year, while attending Lake Forest Prep School in Illinois. From the moment she stepped on the court, we saw the fire, the drive, and the purpose in everything she did. She wasn’t just playing basketball—she was building something bigger.

Recognizing her potential both as a player and a leader, BYF proudly sponsored Yacine’s return to Africa, where she turned her platform into a mission. Instead of taking a break, Yacine chose to host youth basketball camps in her home country, using the game she loves to inspire and empower the next generation. Her camps were more than skill development—they were about confidence, discipline, and dreaming big. Yacine gave her time, her energy, and her heart to give back—and the impact was felt deeply by every child who picked up a ball under her guidance.

And now, her own dream continues.

Yacine has earned a basketball scholarship to Rutgers University, one of the most respected programs in women’s college basketball. This milestone connects her to BYF history as well—following in the footsteps of Khaidaizah Sanders, another proud BYF alum and Rutgers graduate who helped pave the way.

Yacine’s story is one of full-circle success: from a driven international student-athlete, to a global role model, to now a Division I college player at a school rich with BYF legacy. She continues to prove that giving back doesn’t slow you down—it propels you forward.
